s5700 GVRP not work with cisco

Publication Date:  2014-11-10 Views:  805 Downloads:  0
Issue Description
cisco switch is not working with or S5700 to transfer vlan database
Alarm Information
Handling Process
asked customer to configure GVRP:
port link-type trunk
port trunk allow-pass vlan 2 to 4094
gvrp registration fixed

and problem still persist, then asked customer if the other side working with GVRP or not after checking we figured out that it is working with VTP(same as GVRP but is is cisco protocol)
Root Cause
customer wants  huawei switch act as VTP client to Cisco Switch and this is not applicable
after configuring Cisco switch with GVRP, vlan database transfered normaly between two swtich
when you need to let Huawei switch work with any vendor to transfer vlan database, you need to work with standard protocol like GVRP or VCMP
