Maintain State of a PRA Trunk

Publication Date:  2015-07-16 Views:  402 Downloads:  0
Issue Description
During preventive maintenance in an office, the show tkc slot 2 command is executed and in the command output, the status of some trunks is displayed as MAINTAIN.

Handling Process
Step 1 Verify that the SoftCo is grounded properly.

Step 2 Check the loss of signal (LOS) and request for announcement (RFA) alarm indicators. The two indicators are off. The E1 physical link is normal.

Step 3 Run the show pralink command to check PRA link status. The following information is displayed:

LinkNo Slot Trunk E1No HDLCNo WGsn Position TS State   SendRestart
------ ---- ----- ---- ------ ---- -------- -- ------- -----------
0      2     0      16    0        2    user      16 REQUEST yes

Step 4 Check the sendrestart setting.

By default, sendstart of a PRA link must be negotiated with the telecom carrier and, in most cases, is in no state. After confirmation with the customer, the telecom carrier does not specify sendstart to yes.

Step 5 Run the config modify pralink linkno 0 slot 2 trunkport 1 sendrestart no command to change the value of sendstart to no.

Step 6 Verify that the PRA trunk is normal.

Root Cause
1.  SoftCo is not grounded.

2.  The SoftCo clock source is asynchronous with the peer device clock source.

3.  The E1 trunk attribute is incorrectly configured.

4.  Boards are faulty.
Customers are advised to retain the default interconnection parameter settings unless otherwise required by the carrier.
