Some Platform Parameters Cannot Be Set After the MTU Value Is Set for an IPC

Publication Date:  2015-06-27 Views:  458 Downloads:  0
Issue Description
Applicable Models:

An IPC works in the Long Term Evolution (LTE) environment and connects to the eSpace IVS platform through the China Mobile Clairvoyance protocol. The eCNS600 is used as the core network device. After the MTU value of the IPC is set to 877, the IPC device parameters cannot be set on the eSpace IVS platform.
Handling Process
Step 1 Capture data packets between:
  • IPC<->BBU
  • BBU<->Core network
  • Core network<->IVS
Step 2 Analyze the captured data packets. The analysis shows that the core network filters IP segments with small data length. However, the core network does not take IP layer parts into consideration. The core network discards data packets with a small number of bytes.

Step 3 Change the MTU value or restore the MTU value to the default (1500).

Access the web page of the IPC, choose Settings > Network Configuration > MTU Parameters, and change the MTU value.

Step 4 Upgrade the eCNS600 core network device to the latest version.

Step 5 Check whether the fault is rectified.
  • If yes, no further operation is required.
  • If no, contact your service provider for assistance.
Root Cause
The core network discards data packets sent from the IPC.
