SIP Trunk Configuration on the SoftCo When DNS Domain Name Mode Is Used in the IMS Scenario

Publication Date:  2015-07-16 Views:  653 Downloads:  0
Issue Description
Network: IAD–IMS or IAD–SoftCo–IMS

Question: The IMS provides only the domain name for the SoftCo. No IP address is provided. In addition, the IAD uses the DNS configuration to access the IMS. How do I deduce the SoftCo configuration from the IAD configuration?

The IAD configuration is as follows:

TERMINAL(config)#sip server 0 address domain
Handling Process
Step 1 Configure the SIP trunk for connecting to the IMS.

config add peercomponent domainname tkcnum 240 heartbeat yes heartbeatperiod 5 imsconnid masterconfig protocol sip officeno 1 domainname peerport 5060 maxcallnum 240 imsconnid master

Step 2 Set IMS connection parameters.

config add ims connectpara domainname officeselectcode 1 mode masterconfig add ims connectpara domainname officeselectcode 1 mode slave

Step 3 Enable the DNS server.

config dns server primaryip secondaryip dns resolvetype <a/srv>start dns

Root Cause
In the SoftCo documentation, only one domain name is planned in the IMS scenario. Generally, two domain names exist on the live network. As a result, configuration personnel can configure domain names on the IAD, but do not know how to configure the same domain names on the SoftCo.

Configure the domain names on the SoftCo as follows:
  • Use the domain name for user authentication when setting IMS connection parameters.
  • Use the SBC domain name when configuring the SIP trunk for connecting to the IMS.
