However, in some cases, if you choose not to provide it, we may be unable to provide you with relevant products or services or respond to or solve your problems. Please note that if you provide the personal data of others, ensure that you have obtained the relevant authorization. We will collect and use the personal data you proactively provide or generate while using the products and services and obtain your data from third parties only for the purposes described in this Policy.

We collect this data to understand how users use our websites, applications, products, and services to improve service quality and user experience. We may decide on our own to collect, use, transfer, or disclose non-PII. We will endeavor to isolate your personal data from non-PII and ensure that the two types of data are used separately. If personal data is combined with non-PII, it will still be treated as personal data during processing.

2. How We Use Cookies and Similar Technologies

(1) Cookie

To ensure the proper functioning of our website and application, we may sometimes place a small piece of data known as a cookie on your computer or mobile device. A cookie is a text-only file that network servers store on devices. The content of a cookie can only be retrieved or read by the user or the server that creates it. Each cookie is unique to your web browser or app. Cookies typically contain identifiers, site names, numbers, and characters. Cookies allow websites to store data such as user preferences or items in a user's shopping cart.

Like many other websites and Internet service providers, we use cookies to enhance user experience. Cookies also enable websites or apps to save users' access information and save settings, such as the language, font size, and other browsing preferences for your computer or mobile device. This means a user does not need to reset preferences for every visit. Without cookies, a website would view each visit as a new user, resulting in the user being logged out if they are redirected to another page. Huawei only uses cookies for purposes outlined in this Policy. You can manage or delete cookies based on your preferences. For more information, visit AboutCookies.org. You can clear all cookies stored on your computer, and most web browsers allow you to block cookies. However, this would require adjusting your user settings every time you visit our website. To learn how to manage cookie settings for your browser, please visit the following links:

Internet Explorer    Google Chrome    Mozilla Firefox    Safari    Opera

(2) Web beacons and pixel tags

In addition to cookies, we may also use similar technologies, such as web beacons and pixel tags, on our websites and applications. For example, when you receive an email from Huawei, it may contain a click-through URL that links to a Huawei web page. If you click the link, Huawei will track your visit to help us learn about your preferences for products and services and improve our customer service. A web beacon is usually a transparent graphic image embedded in a website or email. We use pixel tags to determine whether an email has been opened. If you do not want your activities to be tracked this way, you can click the unsubscription link in the email.

By using our website or application, you consent to the use of cookies, web beacons, and pixel tags as described in this Policy.

3. How We Disclose Your Personal Data

Typically, Huawei will not disclose your personal data, except in the following scenarios:

(1) We may disclose your personal data with a partner authorized by us in accordance with this Policy if some services are provided by the partner. For example, partners that represent us to handle hotlines, send emails, and provide technical support. These partners can only use your personal data to represent us and provide services for you.

(2) We may disclose your personal data to our affiliates for specific, clear, legitimate purposes and provide services. For instance, to avoid repeated account registration, we need to validate the uniqueness of the account to be registered.

(3) We may disclose your personal data to law enforcement as stipulated by applicable laws or legal procedures. If Huawei is involved in a reorganization, merger, or acquisition or involved in a bankruptcy or liquidation lawsuit in a given jurisdiction, your personal data may also be disclosed to the counterparty.

(4) We may also disclose your data in response to reasonable requests, for example, when we need to execute contract clauses, when we believe disclosure is necessary or appropriate to prevent physical harm or financial loss, or to investigate a suspected or actual illegal activity.

4. How We Access or Modify Your Personal Data

You need to ensure that all the personal data you submit is accurate. Huawei is committed to maintaining the accuracy and completeness of your personal data and keeping it up-to-date.

To the extent required by applicable laws, you have the right to (1) view and copy your personal data we maintain, (2) request us to update or correct your inaccurate personal data, (3) reject or restrict our processing of your personal data, (4) ask us to delete your personal data, and (5) request us to explain the personal data processing rules. If you want to execute any of the preceding rights, please click here to provide your feedback. For security purposes, we may require a written request from you. We may decline the request if we have reasonable grounds to believe that the request is fraudulent or unfeasible or may jeopardize the privacy of others.

As stipulated by applicable laws, you have the right to revoke your consent to our processing of your personal data at any time. However, the revocation does not affect the legitimacy or effectiveness of how we process your personal data based on your consent before the revocation, nor does it affect any data processing based on a legal basis other than your consent.

If you think that the way we process your personal data does not comply with applicable data protection laws, you can contact the relevant competent data protection authority. You can obtain the information for contacting EU data protection authorities at: http://ec.europa.eu/justice/article-29/structure/data-protection-authorities/index_en.htm

5. How We Protect and Retain Your Personal Data

Huawei attaches great importance to the security of personal data. We use appropriate physical, management, and technical measures to protect your personal data from unauthorized access, disclosure, use, modification, damage, or loss. For example, we use cryptographic technologies for data confidentiality, protection mechanisms to prevent attacks, and access control mechanisms to permit only authorized access to your personal data. We also provide training on security and privacy protection to our employees to raise their awareness of personal data protection. While we take the utmost care to protect your personal data, no security measures are completely infallible.

We will retain your personal data within the period necessary to achieve the purposes stated in this Policy unless an extension of the retention period is required or permitted by laws. The data retention period may vary depending on the scenario, product, and service. The criteria we use to determine the retention period are as follows: the time required to retain personal data to fulfill business purposes, including providing products and services, maintaining corresponding transaction and business records, controlling and improving the performance and quality of products and services, ensuring the security of systems, products, and services, handling possible user queries or complaints, and locating problems; whether you agree to a longer retention period; whether the laws, contracts, and other equivalences have special requirements for data retention.
