Product End of Life Policy
Overview
Products have lifecycles and would eventually exit the market due to various factors such as market demand, technological innovation and development, the launch of more competitive products, etc. Considering the possible impact of product lifecycle termination on customer networks, Huawei (Enterprise BG) has developed a unified end of life policy to help customers better manage the transition due to product end-of-life and understand the role Huawei can play in assisting with migration to alternative platforms and technologies, and other high-quality products and services that Huawei can continue to provide to customers.
The End of Life Policy applies to Huawei's hardware, software, combinations of software and hardware which can be collectively referred to as products. The End of Life Policy does not apply to products whose lifecycle has already come to an end.
Policy details
- Normally Huawei will notify the end of marketing (EOM) date of the product at least six months in advance. This notice will be released on Huawei's official website https://support.huawei.com/enterprise/en/bulletins. Customers can obtain information about EOM products and migration products on this website, or subscribe to and receive lifecycle notifications about the relevant products through Huawei Notification Service.
- As of the end of marketing (EOM) date of the product, Huawei will not accept new orders for the product.
- Generally, within one year after the EOM of the product, customer can sign a new service contract with Huawei and add the contents not included in the original service contract to the new service contract. One year after the EOM, Huawei will only accept the renewal of the original service contract. In principle, Huawei will not accept the signing of new service contracts. For details, please refer to Huawei Enterprise Hi-Care&Co-CareService.
- If the customer have signed a maintenance service contract before the EOM date, customer can renew it up to five years after the EOM date to extend the service life of the product. In most cases, the service life of the product shall not exceed the End of Service and Support (EOS) date specified in the announcement.
- Huawei Technical Assistance Center (TAC) will continue to provide 7*24 hours customer support services after the EOM date of products for five years in accordance with signed maintenance service contract, in addition, Huawei will provide hardware repair and spare parts replacement services according to the maintenance service contract. If spare parts of some products are not in stock, Huawei will provide customers with equivalent equipment or spare parts of other models whose performance is not lower than the original ones. For details about software-related maintenance services, please see Article 8.
- In principle, Huawei will no longer provide maintenance and support services for products that have been EOM for five years. However, to better protect customers' interests, Huawei might continue to provide paid services to some customers as required on the condition that Huawei’s own service capabilities can be maintained, however, specific maintenance contracts need to be signed after negotiation. If a fault or problem occurs after the end of service (EOS) date or the agreed maintenance service expiration date, Huawei will provide support within the scope of its capabilities, but will not be liable for any legal and/or indemnification liability.
- Huawei's software release support services are as follows:
- In the first year after the EOM of a software release, Huawei will provide trouble-shooting, fix, maintenance release, or patches for software defects and security vulnerabilities reported through the TAC or Support website.
- The software release reaches the date of EOFS in one year after its EOM, Huawei will continue to provide trouble-shooting service for six months. If conditions permit, Huawei will fix some serious defects and security vulnerabilities.
- Before the EOS of the software release, customers are advised to upgrade the software to the latest release.
- After the EOS of the software release, Huawei will no longer provide any service including Patch of software bugs and fixing security vulnerabilities. Customers may need to upgrade to a new software release to obtain the maintenance and support services described above.
- Due to the continuous development of new technologies for network intrusion and attack, Huawei does not guarantee that products or software (including but not limited to third-party software or open-source software) and systems or networks using Huawei products or software are free from any security vulnerabilities. Huawei does not guarantee that all identified security vulnerabilities will be fixed.
- To the partners who resell Huawei products (if involved): please be noted that partners shall truthfully and completely inform lower-level distributors or end users of the lifecycle information of Huawei products. If lower-level distributors or end users suffer losses due to the failure to fulfill the obligation of this notification, partners shall be liable for such losses.
Table 1 shows the lifecycle roadmap as promised by Huawei.
Note: This standard lifecycle roadmap is not applicable to cameras, telepresence devices, inverters and products that have otherwise specified lifecycle rules. For details about the milestones, please visit https://support.huawei.com/enterprise/en/bulletins.
