Application Description

1) Service Description

1. A site/hardware maintenance guide provides guidance for remotely or locally replacing a faulty board or module when it must be replaced.

Before replacing a board or module, make the following preparations:

  • Prepare a new board for replacement according to the type of the faulty board or spare part replacement relationship.
  • Confirm the type of the cabinet (such as the BTS3900 or BTS3900L) for housing the board or module and know the appearance and configuration of the cabinet so that you can quickly find the cabinet at the site.
  • Know functions of the faulty board or module and the impact of replacement on services so that you can take measures in advance.

 2. The site/hardware maintenance guide also provides the following information:

  • Checklist for base station routine maintenance: The checklist instructs you to check and maintain a base station to ensure proper running of the base station.
  • Method for powering on and powering off a base station: In some predictable or unpredictable scenarios, a base station must be powered off. In this situation, correct power-on and power-off operations are required to minimize the impact on services.
  • Method for installing components at sites requiring capacity expansion: For example, if a board is to be added for baseband expansion, you can refer to a site/hardware maintenance guide for board installation.

2) Documentation Description

The site maintenance guide and hardware maintenance guide are available for SingleRAN base stations.

The site maintenance guide provides guidance on component replacement when a component in the cabinet is faulty. The document is classified according to the following principles:

  • A site maintenance guide is released with each type of base station, such as the BTS3900, BTS3900L, BTS3900A, BTS3900AL, BTS3900C, and DBS3900.
  • If base stations of the same type have different cabinet versions, each cabinet version is designed with a site maintenance guide. For example, the BTS3900 includes BTS3900(Ver.B), BTS3900(Ver.C), and BTS3900(Ver.D). Therefore, three site maintenance guides are available for the BTS3900.

The hardware maintenance guide instructs you to replace the faulty main equipment or faulty component of the main equipment installed outside a cabinet. The hardware maintenance guide is classified according to the following principles:

  • Remote radio units (RRUs) with similar hardware replacement operations share one RRU hardware maintenance guide. If operations for replacing RRUs greatly differ from each other, each RRU is planned with an independent hardware maintenance guide.
  • Active antenna units (AAUs) of each type are planned with a hardware maintenance guide.
