Brief description: The Call Simulation & Inspection System (CSIS) provides a graphical user interface (GUI) for you to simulate various call scenarios. In the simulated environment, you can identify the causes of problems, verify newly provisioned services and number ranges, test voice quality, and check configuration data. The use of the CSIS system reduces maintenance effort and maintenance cost. In addition, you can connect the local maintenance terminal (LMT) to the CSIS system of the target MSC at any location.

The functions of the CSIS system are roughly classified into four categories: specified resource test, specified subscriber test, simulator, and specified announcement test. To be specific, the CSIS system provides the following functions:

  • Managing user rights
  • Testing the voice quality over the specified TDM circuit in the specified trunk group
  • Testing the voice quality over a range of TDM circuits in the specified trunk group (Within the circuit range, circuits are tested in turn.)
  • Testing the voice quality over the sampled busy TDM circuits in the specified trunk group
  • Making test calls over any IP bearers or TDM circuits in the specified subroute, office direction, or trunk group
  • Making test calls over the specified IP bearers or TDM circuits in the specified office direction or trunk group.
  • Making test calls over the specified IP bearers or the TDM circuits between the specified MGWs of the same office
  • Checking configuration data by simulating calls in the absence of access equipment
  • simulating calls to check configuration data in the absence of access equipment
  • Simulating calls in the absence of relevant network equipment
  • Simulating the calls incoming from the A interface, Iu interface, ISUP trunk, or BICC trunk
  • Simulating calls with or without connecting them to the called parties
  • Simulating the location updates initiated from the A or Iu interface
  • Simulating short message delivery over the A or Iu interface
  • Testing all tones during the dialing test
  • Testing the specified IN service tones during the dialing test
  • Providing call information like call progress and call failure causes

Service benefits: Maintenance personnel of carriers organization can complete service verification, fault location, and routine maintenance at higher efficiency but lower cost.

Implemented node: VMSC/VLR, GMSC, and TMSC

Served network: GSM and UMTS

Requirements for peripheral network entities

None

The question is how can one start using this, nice feature i must say but you havent explained how to activate this CSIS or where to get this functionality on the MSOFTX/ITSC. Also you mentioned connecting LMT to target MSC CSIS without giving a step by step instructions.

Usefullness of CSIS: The use of the CSIS system reduces maintenance effort and maintenance cost. In addition, you can connect the local maintenance terminal (LMT) to the CSIS system of the target MSC at any location.
