3900 series base stations can be classified into indoor macro base stations (BTS3900 and BTS3900L), outdoor macro base stations (BTS3900A and BTS3900AL), distributed base stations (DBS3900 and DBS3900 LampSite), mini base stations (BTS3900C), micro base stations (BTS3900E, BTS3902E, and BTS3202E), and pico base stations (BTS3900B). The SingleRAN base station only includes the BTS3900, BTS3900A, BTS3900L, BTS3900AL, BTS3900C, DBS3900, and DBS3900 LampSite. All these SingleRAN base stations can  apply to different network modes, such as GSM, UMTS, LTE, and multimode networks. SingleRAN base stations involve various types, modules, and cables, and the base station of each type applies to a large number of similar or different application scenarios.

 

What are the components of hardware and software and how the documents are designed?

2. Software  


The SingleRAN base stations can be classified into separate-MPT base stations, co-MPT base stations, and single-mode base stations based on function deployment. These base stations can be configured as the following NE types: BTS3900, BTS3900 WCDMA, and BTS3900 LTE. These NEs consist of resource modules such as Node, GBTSFunction, NodeBFunction, and eNodeBFunction. In a SingleRAN base station, the Node resource module manages device and transmission resources while the GBTSFunction, NodeBFunction, eNodeBFunction resource modules manage radio resources of their corresponding modes. Figure 1 shows examples of relationship between the base station type, NE type, and resource module.

NOTE:

A GSM base station is either an eGBTS or a GBTS. A GBTS is managed by a BSC, and therefore the preceding relationship structure does not apply to the GBTS.

SingleRAN base stations share the same software management architecture and their resource model consist of Node, GBTSFunction, NodeBFunction, and eNodeBFunction. Node part consists of device and transmission resource, GBTSFunction, NodeBFunction, and eNodeBFunction parts consist of radio resource, as shown in Figure 2.

Note

Separate-MPT base station resources consist of the working modes resource in this base station. For example,

  • Separate-MPT UL base station resources consist of Node, NodeBFunction, and eNodeBFunction.
  • Separate-MPT G[U*L] base station resources consist of GBTS resource and co-MPT UL base station resources.

 

3. Documentation Architecture  

 

1)  Hedex Library of product documentation packages

Huawei provides only separate-MPT multimode base stations and single-mode base stations before SingleRAN8.0 is released. Only four HedEx product documentation packages are released based on the software type of GSM, UMTS, LTE, and multimode base stations. After the co-MPT base station is introduced in SingleRAN8.0, the product documentation package of co-MPT base stations is released with the product documentation packages of base stations working in other network modes, and the SingleRAN base station product documentation for GSM, UMTS, and LTE networks are released together as 3900 series base station product documentation. The following table lists the mapping between the products and product documentation.

  • SingleRAN7.0 or earlier: The hardware descriptions and instllation guides are designed based on the base station type and working mode. 

    SingleRAN8.0 or later: The hardware descriptions and instllation guides are designed based on the base station type and the modules, and each type of document describes information about the base station working in different network modes.

    Use the hardware description as an example.

    Other hardware documents are designed based on the base station type and cabinets at all times. The documents list as follows,

    3)  Architecture of software documentation

    Software documents includes the following documents type.

    • Parameter Reference
    • MML Command Reference
    • Performance Counter Reference
    • Alarm/Event Reference


    SRAN9.0: Optimized the architecture based on resource models such as Node, GBTSFunction, NodeBFunction, and eNodeBFunction to avoid duplication of common information during the customers suggestion.

    SRAN8.0 or earlier: The architecture was designed based on NE type.
