1. Application Description
1) Service Description
To keep abreast of rapid development of advanced mobile communications technologies, mobile operators are continually seeking partners who provide cutting-edge technologies to efficiently set up high-quality, multimode-enabled, and future-oriented mobile networks with low costs. With this aim in mind, Huawei developed new generation base stations, which are designed based on a high-performance platform and use an optimized hardware and software architecture. Characteristics of these base stations are as follows:
- Support multiple network modes due to their cutting-edge modular design.
- Support easy evolution from a Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) network to a Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) network, and then to a Long Term Evolution (LTE) network and a New Radio (NR) network.
Huawei base stations can be classified into indoor macro base stations , outdoor macro base stations, distributed base stations, micro base stations and pico base stations. Each type of base station applies to a specific scenario, which enables operators to efficiently set up a network with low CAPEX.
Huawei base stations are universal and different types of base stations can be configured by flexibly combining basic modules and various cabinets. The basic modules are the baseband unit (BBU) and radio frequency module which includes radio frequency unit (RFU), remote radio unit (RRU), and active antenna unit (AAU).
