1. Application Description

1) Service Description

An alarm refers to the fault information reported to the operation maintenance center when a product incurs a fault. The alarm must be cleared manually.

An event refers to the notification information generated on a product. An event does not indicate a fault, and it does not need to be processed manually. Events are used to notify O&M engineers of what has happened.

The following describes alarms to illustrate what maintenance engineers need to do when an alarm is generated on a product.

1. On the operation maintenance center, obtain the following information about the alarm:

  • Basic information about the alarm, including the alarm name, alarm ID, alarm severity, and NE type
  • Other alarm information, including the alarm source, location information, and occurrence time

2. Query alarm information by alarm ID or name.

3. Clear the alarm step by step based on the queried information.

4. If the alarm persists, collect the fault information and contact Huawei engineers.

For details about how to rectify system faults, comprehensively analyze information about related NEs and see Troubleshooting Guide

2) Documentation Description

For details about how to clear alarms generated on 3900 series base stations and 5900 series base stations, see 3900 & 5900 Series Base Station Alarm Reference.

3900 series base stations herein include the DBS3900, BTS3900, BTS3900A, BTS3900L, BTS3900AL, BTS3900C, and LampSite. 5900 series base stations herein include the DBS5900, BTS5900, BTS5900A.

1. Troubleshooting operations are the same for the NodeB, eNodeB, gNodeB and co-MPT base station. The alarm reference is composed of device and transmission alarm sections and different-RAT alarm sections, as shown in the following figure.

2. Troubleshooting operations for GSM BTSs are different from those for the NodeB, eNodeB, gNodeB and co-MPT base station. Therefore, an independent section "GBTS Alarm Reference" is provided, as shown in the preceding figure.

3. The NodeB, eNodeB, gNodeB and co-MPT base station have certain alarms with the same alarm names and IDs as GSM BTSs. Based on the Network Element field on an alarm reference page, you can determine whether the alarm reference is consistent with the base station that generates the alarm.

  • For GSM BTSs, the Network Element field is GBTS.
  • For NodeBs, the Network Element field is BTS3900 WCDMA.
  • For eNodeBs, the Network Element field is BTS3900 LTE.
  • For gNodeBs, the Network Element field is BTS3900 5G.
  • For co-MPT base stations, the Network Element field is BTS3900.
  • For separate-MPT base stations, alarms are reported by base station type. To clear such an alarm, refer to alarm reference for the specific base station.
