Accessing the BIOS

Procedure

  1. Connect a local PC with the KVM to the server, or access the Remote Control page on the iBMC WebUI.

    For details about how to access the Remote Control page on the iBMC WebUI, see iBMC User Guide of corresponding server.

  2. Power on or restart the server.

    Restarting the server will interrupt services. Exercise caution when performing this operation.

  3. When the screen shown in Figure 7-20 is displayed, press Del or Delete.

    • To access the Smart Provisioning GUI, press F6.
    • To switch to the Boot Manager screen, press F11.
    • To boot from the network, press F12.
    The screen for entering the BIOS password is displayed.

  4. Enter the BIOS password.

    • The default BIOS password is Admin@9000.
    • Press F2 to alternate between the English (US), French, and Japanese keyboards.
    • For security purposes, change the initial password upon the first login and periodically change the password. For security purposes, change the administrator password periodically.
    • The system will be locked if an incorrect password is entered three consecutive times. Restart the server to unlock it.

    The Front Page screen is displayed.

    • Figure 7-22 shows the Front Page screen displayed when you log in to the system using the administrator password.
    • Figure 7-23 shows the Front Page screen displayed when you log in to the system using a common user password. You can only set the Continue and BIOS Configuration menus. Other menus are dimmed and cannot be edited. On the BIOS Configuration screen, common users can only view menu options, set or change their own passwords, and save and exit. That is, common users can only set Manage User Password on the Security screen and Save Changes and Exit on the Exit screen, and other options are dimmed and cannot be edited.

  5. Use arrow keys to select BIOS Configuration and press Enter.

    The Main screen is displayed.
