Slot Layout
Slot Type | Slot ID | Slot Direction | Remarks |
---|---|---|---|
Power supply slots | - | Horizontal insertion | The switch has two power supply slots, in which pluggable power modules can be installed. A chassis can use one or two power modules. In particular, dual power modules provide higher reliability. The switch supports dual power modules working in 1+1 backup mode. When both power modules are working properly, each power module provides half of the power for the switch. If one power module fails, the other one provides full power for the switch. All power modules are hot swappable. |
Fan slots | - | Horizontal insertion | The switch has fan slots in which fan modules can be installed to cool the chassis, ensuring efficient heat dissipation and system stability. It is recommended that fan modules be properly installed on a switch to ensure normal switch operating. Fan modules work in hot backup mode. If a fan module fails, the system can still work properly for a short period of time. However, you are advised to replace the faulty fan module immediately. All fan modules are hot swappable. |

Ports
Port | Connector Type | Description | Available Components |
---|---|---|---|
50GE/25GE SFP56 optical port | SFP56 | Port for inputting and outputting 50GE/25GE/10GE/GE optical signals By default, the port is a 25GE port and supports 10GE auto-sensing. You can run a command to change the port rate to 50 Gbit/s or 1 Gbit/s. Every eight ports (1 to 8, 9 to 16, 17 to 24, 25 to 32, 33 to 40, and 41 to 48) form a group. In versions earlier than V300R024C00, when the rate of a 25GE port is changed to 50 Gbit/s or 1 Gbit/s, the rate of the other seven ports in the same group needs to be changed together. In V300R024C00 and later versions, the rate of a single port in a group can be changed independently, but all ports in the port group support only two rates, which can be any of the following combinations: 50GE/25GE, 25GE/10GE, 25GE/GE, 10GE/GE. A high-speed port license is required to achieve the 50 Gbit/s port rate. |
25GE SFP28 optical module 10GE SFP+ to 10GE SFP+ AOC cable 25GE SFP28 to 25GE SFP28 AOC cable 10GE SFP+ to 10GE SFP+ high-speed cable 25GE SFP28 to 25GE SFP28 high-speed cable NOTE:
1. Support for optical modules: (1) GE/10GE/25GE optical modules and 10GE/25GE AOC cables are supported, but LRM and linear optical modules are not supported. (2) In the case of port-side air intake, downlink 25GE/50GE ports support 1000Base-SX/LX/EX/ZX, 10G-AOC/SR/LR/ER/ZR/BIDI, and 25G-AOC/SR. In V300R024C10 and later versions, 25G/10G-SR multi-GE and 25G-BIDI optical modules are supported. (3) In the case of port-side air exhaust, downlink 25GE/50GE ports support 1000Base-SX/LX/EX/ZX, 10G-AOC/SR/LR/BIDI, and 25G-AOC/SR. In V300R024C10 and later versions, 25G/10G-SR multi-GE and 25G-BIDI optical modules are supported. 2. Support for copper cables: 10GE 1/3/5 m passive copper cables and 10 m active copper cables, and 25GE 1/3/5 m passive copper cables are supported. 3. GE copper modules are supported and can work at 100M/1000M (full-duplex only, half-duplex not supported). In V300R024C10 and later versions, 10GE copper modules are supported and can work at 100M/1000M/10GE (full-duplex only, half-duplex not supported). The following limitations apply: (1) GE copper modules do not comply with rail transportation standard EN 50121-4 and cannot work in the following scenarios:
(2) Ethernet cables cannot be routed to outdoors. (3) Copper modules cannot be installed in ports directly above or below another copper module. |
200GE/100GE QSFP56 optical port | QSFP56 | Port for inputting and outputting 200GE/100GE/40GE optical signals 1. A 100GE port can be configured to operate at 40GE. Every two ports (1 and 2, 3 and 4, 5 and 6, and 7 and 8) form a group. When a port is split into 4 x 10GE or 4 x 25GE ports, the other port in the same group also needs to be split. 2. A 100GE port can be configured to operate at 200GE. Every two ports (1 and 2, 3 and 4, 5 and 6, and 7 and 8) form a group, and the rate of the two ports in the same group must be switched together. A high-speed port license is required to achieve the 200 Gbit/s port rate. In versions earlier than V300R024C00, a 200GE port can be split only into 4 x 50GE ports. In V300R024C00 and later versions, a 200GE port can also be split into 2 x 100GE (100GE: 2 x 50GE) ports, and the port rate can be reduced to 100GE (100GE: 2 x 50GE). In this case, the first port of the 2 x 100GE ports is used. A 200GE port can be split into 2 x 100GE ports (100GE: 2 x 50GE) only when an AOC is connected. It cannot be split when a copper cable is connected. |
NOTE:
1. Support for optical modules: (1) In the case of port-side air intake, uplink 100GE/200GE ports support 100G-AOC/SR4/DR/LR4/4WDM and 200G-AOC/SR4/FR4. When the ambient temperature ranges from 0°C to 35°C (32°F to 95°F), 100G-ZR4 is supported, but the device noise will exceed the threshold. (2) In the case of port-side air exhaust, uplink 100GE/200GE ports support 100G-AOC/SR4/DR/LR4 and 200G-AOC/SR4. 2. Support for copper cables: 40GE, 40GE 1-to-4 4x10GE, 100GE, 100GE 1-to-4 4x25GE, and 200GE copper cables are supported. If 200GE copper cables are used to interconnect with switches, only CloudEngine series data center switches can be interconnected. Before using 200GE copper cables to interconnect with servers, contact Huawei engineers for interconnection verification. |

Supports USB 2.0 flash drives. |
Heat Dissipation System
The cooling system of the CloudEngine 6800 series switches uses front-to-back or back-to-front airflow depending on the airflow direction of the power modules and fan modules used.
- Front-to-back airflow: Power modules and fan modules with front-to-back airflow are identified by
. Air flows into the chassis from the power supply side and is exhausted from the port side, as shown in Figure 4-164(using a CE6866-48S8CQ-P chassis as an example).
- Back-to-front airflow: Power modules and fan modules with back-to-front airflow are identified by
. Air flows into the chassis from the port side and is exhausted from the power supply side, as shown in Figure 4-165(using a CE6866-48S8CQ-P chassis as an example).
Power modules and fan modules using forced air cooling on a switch must have the same airflow direction. If a switch adopts power modules with back-to-front airflow, the switch must use fan modules with back-to-front airflow as well.
