Cloud Resource Monitoring

Cloud Resource Monitoring

Monitoring List

In the monitoring list of cloud resources, administrators can view their statuses and alarm severities to detect problems in a timely manner.

Prerequisites

  • You have logged in to ManageOne Maintenance Portal.

Procedure

  1. Choose Monitoring > Resource Monitoring from the main menu.
  2. Select All Resources for Resource Categories.
  3. Set Available Categories.
  4. Set parameters in the Quick Filter drop down list.
  5. Click OK to view monitoring information.
  6. View monitoring information in the monitoring list. Click in the upper right corner and select data to be displayed.

    The ECS monitoring list is used as an example. Table 4-152 describes the main parameters.

Monitoring Details

If an exception is detected, select Cloud Resources for Resource Categories and click a resource name in the resource list. View the topology, alarm, and performance information of the resource to quickly handle the exception.

  • Monitoring details

    Monitoring details vary depending on cloud resource types, as listed in Table 4-153 (Y: supported; N: unsupported).

    O&M requirements of cloud resources may vary. The ManageOne navigation pane can be dynamically displayed based on the actual configuration in a cloud service adaptation package. There are two types of the navigation pane:

    • Preset menu: All preset menu items are listed in Table 4-153 and dynamically change based on the configuration in a cloud service adaptation package.
    • Custom menu: A new custom navigation pane can be created for a cloud service adaptation package to switch to other O&M systems of the cloud resource.

    You can view monitoring data of EIPs and bandwidth on Huawei Cloud and hybrid cloud.

Overview

Administrators can view basic information and alarms of cloud resources on the same page.

Prerequisites

  • You have logged in to ManageOne Maintenance Portal.

Procedure

  1. Choose Monitoring > Resource Monitoring from the main menu.
  2. Select All Resources for Resource Categories.
  3. Set Available Categories.
  4. Set parameters in the Quick Filter drop down list.
  5. Click OK to view monitoring information.
  6. Click a resource name. The resource monitoring details page is displayed. You can also click an EIP to view its details.
  1. In the navigation pane, choose Basic Information > Overview.
  2. View information on the displayed page.

    Table 4-154 describes displayed information and related operations using an ECS as an example.

For ECSs or host machines automatically synchronized from Service OM through SSO, click the name of a desired resource. In the upper right corner, click Operation to go to the Service OM page and view resource details. Operations on Service OM may power off ECSs or host machines.

Viewing the Topology

Topology displays associations between resources and their related resources, alarms, performance, modifications, and logs of associated resources, facilitating fault analysis.

Prerequisites

  • You have logged in to ManageOne Maintenance Portal.

Procedure

  1. Choose Monitoring > Resource Monitoring from the main menu.
  2. Select All Resources for Resource Categories.
  3. Set Available Categories.
  4. Set parameters in the Quick Filter drop down list.
  5. Click OK to view monitoring information.
  6. Click a resource name. The resource monitoring details page is displayed. You can also click an EIP to view its details.
  1. In the navigation pane, choose Basic Information > Topology.
  1. View the topology.

    • View the logical relationships between the current resource and other resources at each layer.
    • View the resource name, status, and ID in the pop-up window when moving your cursor over a resource icon.
    • View affected resources at each layer when a resource is running improperly.
    • Double-click a resource icon to go to the Topology page. Only details of some resources can be viewed.
    • If a number is displayed in the upper right corner of a resource, related alarms are reported for the resource. The number indicates the total quantity of alarms. The color of the number indicates alarms of the highest severity.
    • If a number is displayed in the upper right corner of a resource, alarms are reported for the resource. The number indicates the total quantity of alarms. The color of the number indicates alarms of the highest severity.
    • Storage links of management VMs support only unified storage.
    • On the Topology page of a host machine, right-click the icon of a VM and choose View Key Indicators. In the displayed dialog box, view the monitoring metrics and alarm list of the VM. Only VMs with performance metrics support this operation.
    • If you want to view the internal network connections of the ECS in the topology of a host machine, right-click a VM or NIC icon and choose Analyze Link from the shortcut menu. Only KVM host machines support this operation. After the current analysis, you can right-click the icon of another VM or NIC and choose Analyze Link from the pop-up menu. If you do not want to continue the analysis, right-click the icon of the current VM or NIC and choose Cancel Link Analysis from the shortcut menu.

    Storage links of management VMs support only unified storage.

Related Task

  • Click above the topology to view it in full screen. Press Esc to exit the full screen mode.
  • Click to zoom in the topology. Click to zoom out the topology.
  • Click to adapt the topology to the screen size.
  • Personalized setting of topology links: Click the curve, broken line, or line above the view to set the topology link type.

Monitoring View

Administrators can stay informed of cloud resource performance status based on metrics such as CPU and memory usage.

Prerequisites

  • You have logged in to ManageOne Maintenance Portal.

Procedure

  1. Choose Monitoring > Resource Monitoring from the main menu.
  2. Select All Resources for Resource Categories.
  3. Set Available Categories.
  4. Set parameters in the Quick Filter drop down list.
  5. Click OK to view monitoring information.
  6. Click a resource name. The resource monitoring details page is displayed. You can also click an EIP to view its details.
  1. In the navigation pane, choose Basic Information > Monitoring View.
  2. Set Category, Instance, Metric, and Period to view the monitoring status of a resource.

    In the ECS monitoring list, you can view Memory Usage, EVS Disk Usage, Network Inbound Rate, and Network Outbound Rate, All Connection Counts, and Disk IO Latency on the Basic Monitoring tab page and metrics on the OS Monitoring tab page only when OpsAgent has been installed on ECSs on which sudo can be executed.

Components

Administrators can view all components of cloud resources to keep abreast of their status.

Prerequisites

  • You have logged in to ManageOne Maintenance Portal.

Procedure

  1. Choose Monitoring > Resource Monitoring from the main menu.
  2. Select All Resources for Resource Categories.
  3. Set Available Categories.
  4. Set parameters in the Quick Filter drop down list.
  5. Click OK to view monitoring information.
  6. Click a resource name. The resource monitoring details page is displayed. You can also click an EIP to view its details.
  1. In the navigation pane, choose Basic Information > Components.
  2. You can click different resource types to switch to different resource lists. The displayed information varies depending on the resource list.
  3. View component information. ECSs are used as an example to describe information and related operations displayed in the key component list.

    ECS components include EVS disks, NICs, and security groups.

  4. Click Elastic Volume Service to view the EVS component list. Table 4-155 lists the details.

    View monitoring details of an EVS disk:

    • Click the target EVS disk to go to the monitoring details page and view information about the EVS disk, such as the overview and topology.
    • The monitoring details of EVS disks are similar to those of ECSs. For details, see Overview to Components.

  5. Click NIC to view the NIC component list. Table 4-156 lists the details.

    View monitoring details of a security group:

    • Click a security group to go to the monitoring details page and view its information such as the overview and components.

Alarms

Administrators can view alarms of cloud resources to keep abreast of their status.

Prerequisites

  • You have logged in to ManageOne Maintenance Portal.

Procedure

  1. Choose Monitoring > Resource Monitoring from the main menu.
  2. Select All Resources for Resource Categories.
  3. Set Available Categories.
  4. Set parameters in the Quick Filter drop down list.
  5. Click OK to view monitoring information.
  6. Click a resource name. The resource monitoring details page is displayed. You can also click an EIP to view its details.
  1. In the navigation pane, choose O&M > Alarms.
  2. If there are a large number of alarms, filter alarms by alarm name, alarm source, alarm serial number, or alarm ID in the search box.
  1. View information in the alarm list. Table 4-38 lists alarm parameters.

    • The alarm list displays default fields. To view other fields, click in the upper right corner of the list and set the columns to be displayed.
    • Click in the upper right corner of the alarm list to refresh the alarm list.
    • In the alarm list, select an alarm and click in the lower part of the page to view the alarm details.

Viewing Run Logs

Downloading Node Logs

Run logs of some cloud resources are stored on VM nodes on the tenant plane. To locate faults, O&M personnel need to view and download the tenant plane run logs to their local PC for analysis.

Prerequisites

  • You have logged in to ManageOne Maintenance Portal.

Procedure

  1. Choose Monitoring > Resource Monitoring from the main menu.
  2. Select All Resources for Resource Categories.
  3. Set Available Categories.
  4. Set parameters in the Quick Filter drop down list.
  5. Click OK to view monitoring information.
  6. Click a resource name. The resource monitoring details page is displayed.
  7. In the navigation pane, choose O&M > Run Logs.
  8. Choose Tenant Plane > Node Logs.
  9. Download node logs.

    1. In the information tree on the left, select the VM nodes whose log files need to be downloaded. You can search for VM nodes by keyword in the upper part of the region tree.

      A maximum of 20 VM nodes can be selected at a time.

    2. All log paths of the cloud resource are displayed on the right of the page. You can download VM node logs.

      You can download node logs in the log path one by one or in batches. Table 4-158 lists details.

      A maximum of 15 log paths can be selected at a time.

      Task

      Procedure

      Download one log.

      1. Locate the target log path and click Download in the Operation column.
      2. In the displayed dialog box, enter the task name and select a time segment of log information. You can select a maximum of seven days.
      3. Click OK. A log download task is created. In the displayed dialog box, click Download in the Operation column of the task to download required log information to the local PC.

      Download logs in batches.

      1. Select logs to be downloaded.
      2. Click Download in the upper left corner of the list.
      3. In the displayed dialog box, enter the task name and select a time segment of log information. You can select a maximum of seven days.
      4. Click OK. A log download task is created. In the displayed dialog box, click Download in the Operation column of the task to download required log information to the local PC.

Managing Download Tasks

After logs of the current node are downloaded, they are displayed on the Tenant Plane > Download Tasks page. O&M personnel can download these logs again to the local PC.

Prerequisites

Procedure

  1. Choose Monitoring > Resource Monitoring from the main menu.
  2. Select All Resources for Resource Categories.
  3. Set Available Categories.
  4. Set parameters in the Quick Filter drop down list.
  5. Click OK to view monitoring information.
  6. Click a resource name. The resource monitoring details page is displayed.
  7. In the navigation pane, choose O&M > Run Logs.
  8. Choose Tenant Plane > Download Tasks to view logs of all downloaded nodes on the tenant plane.

  9. Click Delete in the Operation column to delete the task.
  10. Click Download in the Operation column to download the required log file to the local PC for analysis.
