AR Router Troubleshooting Guide(V200 and V300)
What Can I Do If the Packet Loss Rate or Delay Is High?
Symptom
When an AR pings an external device or an external device (such as a core network device or customer's server) pings the IP address of an AR (cellular interface address of the AR or address of a device connected to the AR), there is a high packet loss rate or delay.
Possible Causes
- The signal quality of the device is poor.
- The CDRX power saving mode is not disabled by default.
- The core network or the customer's internal network is unstable.
Troubleshooting Flowchart
Procedure
- Run the display cellular interface-number radio command on the device to check the signal quality of the LTE/5G interface.
[Huawei] display Cellular 2/0/0 radio Radio Information. ================== Current Bands : AUTO Current Band = B3 Current RSSI >= -51 dBm Current RSRP = -70 dBm (strong) Current RSRQ = -4 dB Current SINR = 24 dB
Pay attention to the following parameters:
- Current RSSI: indicates the RSSI. The RSSI must be greater than or equal to -70 dBm in a good environment.
- Current RSRP: indicates the RSRP. The RSRP must be greater than or equal to -97 dBm in a good environment.
- Current SINR: indicates the SINR. The SINR must be greater than or equal to 15 dB in a good environment.
- Check whether the CDRX power saving mode is disabled by default (applicable only to LTE models).
- The following describes the CDRX power saving mode: After the LTE module reports the CDRX capability to a base station, the base station determines whether to deliver the CDRX configuration. If the CDRX configuration is performed, the module is activated and sleeps intermittently. Packets received by the module in the sleep state need to be processed in the active state, increasing the delay.
- Run the display cellular interface-number hardware command on the device to check the LTE module model (based on the Model field).
[Huawei-Cellular0/0/0]display Cellular 0/0/0 hardware Modem State: Hardware Information. ===================== Model = EC200T-EU Modem Type = LTE module Modem Firmware Version = EC200TEHAAR05A08M16 Hardware Version = None Integrate circuit card identity (ICCID) = 98681020100202000002 International Mobile Subscriber Identity (IMSI) = 369770075590459 Mobile Station International ISDN Number (MSISDN) = None International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) = 863499052560992 Modem Status = Online
- For the device using the ME909s module, the CDRX power saving mode is disabled by default.
- The device using EC25 series modules must be loaded with V300R023C00 (or later) or the V300R022SPH1b0 patch so that the power saving mode is disabled by default.
- The device using EP06 series modules must be loaded with V300R023C00 or later so that the power saving mode is disabled by default.
- The device using EC200T-E series modules must have the firmware upgraded to EC200TEHAAR05A07M16 or a later version and must be loaded with V300R023C00 (or later) or the V300R022SPH1b0 patch so that the power saving mode is disabled by default.
- The device using EC200A-E series modules must have the firmware upgraded to EC200AEHAAR01A06M16 or a later version and must be loaded with V300R023C00 (or later) or the V300R022SPH1b0 patch so that the power saving mode is disabled by default.
- Cooperate with the carrier to perform ping tests on the base station and core network to locate where the delay occurs.Ping test items:Ping test items:
- Ping the cellular interface address of the AR from the core network.
- Ping the IP address of the base station from the core network.
- Ping the IP address of the customer's server from the core network.
- Ping the cellular interface address of the AR from the base station. (If you cannot perform a ping test on the base station, tracert the cellular interface address of the AR from the core network.)
Ping test result analysis:- If the delay from the AR to the base station is high, contact Huawei technical support engineers to collect module logs for further analysis.
- If the delay from the base station to the core network is high, contact the carrier for analysis.
- If the delay from the core network to the customer's server is high, check the customer's internal network.
