Example for Configuring Internet Access Using PPPoE (on the Device Supporting Only Layer 3 Interfaces)

Example for Configuring Internet Access Using PPPoE (on the Device Supporting Only Layer 3 Interfaces)

Application Scenario

This example applies to all AR routers of V300R019C10 and later versions that support only Layer 3 interfaces.

Networking Requirements

In Figure1, the router functions as the DHCP server to dynamically assign IP addresses to clients on the LAN segment 192.168.100.2. As a PPPoE client, the router is authenticated by the PPPoE server and obtains an IP address to provide Internet access for users.

Procedure

  1. Connect an interface to the Internet.

    1. Choose Configuration > WAN Configuration > Ethernet Interface. The Ethernet Interface page is displayed, as shown in Figure2.

    2. In the Ethernet Interface List area, click Modify next to GigabitEthernet0/0/2, and modify the Ethernet interface, as shown in Figure3.

    3. Click OK.

  2. Connect an interface to the LAN.

    1. In the Ethernet Interface List area, click Modify next to GigabitEthernet0/0/1, and modify the Ethernet interface, as shown in Figure4.

    2. Click OK.

  3. Configure a DHCP server.

    1. Choose Advanced > IP > DHCP > DHCP Address Pool. The DHCP page is displayed, as shown in Figure5.

    2. In the DHCP status page, select ON to enable DHCP globally.

    3. In the IPv4 Address Pool Settings area, set the parameters as required, as shown in Figure6.

    4. Click Add.

  4. Verify the configuration.

After the configuration is complete, internal users can access the Internet through the router.
